I lost my British Rallycross virginity this weekend gone, and I absolutely loved it!
Driving 6 hours to get to Pembrey provided amazing views and even better roads as we weaved our way south through Wales. We arrived to friendly faces upon helpful people and set up camp in the dark before getting our heads down for an early morning of action. Having never been to a Rallycross event, I wasn’t completely prepared for what followed; it is quite unlike any other motorsport experience. The noise of the amazing machines throughout all of the classes reverberated through the Welsh hills during a sunny and exciting first day. We then ventured into the paddock to admire the beauties on show and again were welcomed with open arms, oodles of information and even a beer or two from the competitors and their teams. The second day was just as exhilarating and, after the festivities the night before, we now felt as though we had a horse in each race.
Overall, it is an experience that I can not recommend highly enough. We made friends with long time veteran supporters, championship winning drivers, expert mechanics, a security guard who appreciated a good camp fire and fantastic stewards on our first ever visit. What a fantastic community BRX has. See you all at Lydden Hill on November 5th!
